- Jointly with BUTEC, ADC wins Marafeq Qatar's award of Lusail's Marina District Cooling Plant

On October 10th 2013, and Marafeq Qatar have awarded to the BUTEC/ADC Joint Venture the new Marina District’s district cooling system in Lusail City set at nearly 35,000TR. The new plant will serve a group of towers in the Marina District development.
Lusail City is Qatar’s largest real estate development, with plans to accommodate 200,000 residents, 170,000 workers and 80,000 daily visitors and is one of the most ambitious and ground breaking concepts of Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, which aspires to become the most internationally renowned company in real estate investment. Lusail City extends across an area of 38 square kilometers and includes four exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed use, entertainment and commercial districts. It is a comprehensive arena with leisure spots, residential buildings, commercial towers, avenues and public ports.
The building of this first large cooling plant in Lusail development is the first major step towards meeting the requirements of this growing City built with the highest international standards and slated to include a total combined district cooling plant reaching upwards of 500,000 TR.
After a long process of qualifications, bidding, clarifications and final negotiations, Marafeq Qatar, a Qatari Diar subsidiary, selected the BUTEC/ADC Joint Venture for the design, procurement, construction and plant commissioning of the project. BUTEC, a grade A industrial contractor in Qatar will take the lead in constructing the plant, while ADC, a specialized EPC contractor in District Cooling will focus on the delicate electro-mechanical process. Together the venture will have the challenge of completing the plant within 18 months.
