- Saadiyat Cooling gives ADC the Notice to Proceed on an expanded DCP3 Plant
18 November 2013
As the operating arm of Saadiyat Cooling, Dalkia Utilities ME has extended its agreement with ADC Energy Systems on a revised and expanded district cooling plant DCP3 to serve the iconic museums (like the Louvre Abu Dhabi under construction) but also a large commercial center and other cultural centers.
The new plant with a planned total cooling capacity of 35,000 TR, will serve the Cultural district, as well as the Promenade district which will contain resorts, family entertainment facilities, high end retail mall and hotels. The plant is designed around utmost reliability, high performance, and maximum operability.
Spread across 27 sq km, Saadiyat will have seven distinct districts and a developed area of 2600 ha. More than 145,000 people will call it home. Saadiyat Island will be well connected with 12 km of highways, 10 km of light rail network and 3 inter-island bridges. A state-of-the-art communication network will help people keep in touch on the Island. The island’s infrastructure has been thoroughly thought out and planned. It is powered by one grid station and six primary sub-stations. Three district cooling plants will be most critical as they serve the cultural centers and hotels and such iconic places as Zayed National Museum, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and Performing Arts Centre.
